SUMBAL‘s 1st 4YO runner from his 1st Irish bred crop finished a creditable 2nd on Saturday last in the Dennison Commercials sponsored 4YO maiden at Kirkistown point to point. Owned and Trained by Warren Ewing, the imposing INTENSE APPEAL jumped impeccably throughout and finished a gallant runner up to the Mick Goff trained Kanzler. The winner, who hails from a sharp flat pedigree showed a good turn of foot and could prove to be a very useful track performer.
The race analysis on p2p.ie on Intense Appeal read
“INTENSE APPEAL (IRE) cost E6,500 as a foal when purchased at Tattersalls. The striking grey gelding set off under Dara McGill to make the running and held that position until the last circuit. He was then joined by the eventual winner and went toe to toe with him matching his jumping. After two out, though, the son of Sumbal just could not live with the winners turn of foot but managed to stay on to his credit, finishing off his race well. This Warren Ewing-trained gelding would look to have a good chance on a stiffer circuit the next day and may progress into more of a staying performer on the track.”
Intense Appeal is one of just 22 four year old’s by Sumbal. Other members of this crop are in training with Gordon Elliott, Noel Meade, Colin Bowe, Phillip Rothwell and Martin Hassett to name a few. Sumbal’s 1st Boardsmill crop of 3 year old’s will be on offer at this years store sales.
