News: 9 August 2011
Court Cave and Kalanisi were to the
fore at Downpatrick on Sunday (7th August) as they combined to sire
an amazing 1-2-3 in the bumper.
It was the odds on favourite Court Lexi, a 4 year old daughter of
Court Cave, who proved victorious leading home the debutante Pond
Cottage (by Kalanisi) with Mullawhillin Boy (by Court Cave) staying
on strongly at the finish to complete the clean sweep.
Court Lexi is another great advertisement her young sire as she
looks destined to achieve greater success than her dam who was just
a winning plater on the level and over hurdles. Bred here at Boardsmill
Stud, she becomes the third winning filly by Court Cave to be bred
by Boardsmill. Trained by Gordon Elliott for his stables Racing
Club, Court Lexi was shrewdly purchased as a foal by Mr Charlie
Johnston and his judgement is being rewarded now as his pride and
joy has won and been 2nd twice from all three starts to date.
Not to be outdone by his younger Stud Mate, Kalanisi notched up
two more winners the following day (8th August). Morar notched up
her 4th success by landing a staying handicap at Lingfield for trainer
Laura Mongan, whilst the towering 'Alhellal' was the facile winner
of the 2m4f maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe. This was Alhellal's 2nd
victory, following his recent bumper win at Roscommon and he looks
like a nice prospect for trainer Michael Phelan.
All this success, comes on the eve of the 3 day Tattersalls August
Sale where Kalanisi and Court Cave in particular are well represented.
