KALANISI- 1st Boardsmill crop 3yos in 2012
Having moved to Boardsmill in 2008, Kalanisi has now spent 4 fully
booked seasons at stud covering mostly National Hunt mares. Therefore,
his first Boardsmill crop has just turned 3 years old. It is amazing
to think that all his success under National Hunt rules to date
has come from a limited number of his Flat Bred progeny who switched
codes.
He has sired 45% winners/runners under NH rules including Grade
1 winners Katchit and Barizan. And even more impressive is his winners/runners
% over fences- currently running at 67%.
Whilst his 1st Boardsmill representatives are 3 in 2012, there
were some astute National Hunt breeders who used Kalanisi in his
final year at the Aga Khans Giltown Stud in 2007. The resulting
offspring are 4yos this year and it is with great excitement
that we await their arrival on the racecourse. Some of these have
received favourable mentions in recent weeks from their connections
and are in the safe hands of Paul Nolan, Colin Bowe, Wilson Dennison,
Charlie Swan, Niall Hannity, Stuart Crawford, Edward OGrady
to name a few.
Many breeders have told us that they see Kalanisi with a very similar
stud profile to the ill-fated Kings Theatre with very similar
early results with his Flat Bred offspring. If thats the case,
then surely there isnt a better time to use Kalanisi just
as his first National Hunt bred progeny are hitting the track and
the store sales ring!
