Poet’s Word great start with his first runners

Poet’s Word has made an exceptional start at stud with his early runners. He has sired 80% winners to runners to date which is the highest % amongst all sires retired to stud in 2019.

From his first UK conceived crop of just 21 foals, he has sired 9 individual winners and 2 placed horses from just 12 runners. Amongst these is the 6 time winner Lady Of Arabia (RPR 88) trained by Eve Johnston Houghton.

His 1st Boardsmill bred crop of 3yos in 2024 has featured 3 winners from 3 runners. Amongst these is the Ger Lyons trained dual winner Poetic Sound. He achieved an official rating of 95 after his 2nd win (3rd start) and looks a real exciting prospect for 2025.

Poetic Sound wins at Bellewstown 3rd October 2024

His sole runner to represent Poet’s Word over obstacles is Pacini, a winner and Gr.2 placed over hurdles. His only other runner under NH rules is Tralee Bay, placed 2nd in a bumper on his only start to date.

This year also saw Poet’s Words first Boardsmill crop of 3yo’s represented at the store sales. They were really well received and sold for €120,000, €100,000, €75,000 etc. These stores have gone into training with all the leading trainers and point to point handlers including Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott, Henry De Bromhead, Gavin Cromwell, Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson, Dan Skelton, Ben Pauling to name a few and early reports are all positive.

With such a big crop of exciting 4yo’s to run in 2025 there might not be a better time to get your hands on some of his yearlings and foals at the upcoming sales.
