CALIFET 1998-2021

It was with great sadness that last week we announced the recent passing of Califet who died suddenly.
He had just reached his 23rd year. We acquired Califet in 2014 at which point he had yet to
sire his first Grade 1 winner. That soon changed however and he quickly clocked up five top
flight winners including French Gold Cup Winner CARRIACOU, dual Grade 1 winners CLARCAM and
BLUE DRAGON aswell as CILAOS EMERY and ADRIEN DU PONT.

His first Irish Bred runners are gaining momentum now and amongst his 20 Irish Bred
winners to date are recent impressive debut bumper winners Sauce Of Life (bred by Paul
Marsh), Andante (bred by Francis McMahon) and Mount Stewart (bred by David Mitchell).
There have also been some excellent debut runs in defeat, most recently from the Emma
Lavelle trained Mumbo Jumbo (bred by Sean Staunton) at Newbury.
We would like to thank all those who supported Califet during his time here and wish
breeders and buyers of his progeny the best of luck over the coming years. We will continue
to promote the achievements of his progeny on our website, through social media and also
mainstream advertising.
