Boardsmill Stud are delighted to announce the acquisition of Group 2 winner SUMBAL from Annshoon Stud. The son of Danehill Dancer was a winner of 3 races as a 3yo in France including the 10 furlong Group 2 Prix Greffulhe and was placed in numerous other stakes races. He achieved a Timeform Rating of 117.
Speaking of their new acquisition John Flood said ‘Sumbal is a horse we have been following since his racing career and is an exciting addition to our roster. Just like the much missed Jeremy, he is a Group 2 winner by Danehill Dancer and hails from a strong female line. His dam is a Group 1 performer by leading broodmare sire Linamix (sire of Martaline) and she has produced 3 stakes horses to date.’
‘Physically, he is very impressive. He stands 16.2hh, has great bone and substance and lots of quality and presence. His first crop are yearlings in 2021 and from what we have seen and heard, they are very much in the same mould as their sire.’
Michael Shefflin of Annshoon Stud said ‘ I am very sorry to see Sumbal leave us. I believe he is a sire with a big future. He has a wonderful temperament, is very fertile and has all the credentials needed for a successful National Hunt sire. I have retained an interest in him and wish Boardsmill Stud all the best with him for the future.
