KALANISI has a long and successful history with his Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale graduates with some of his best progeny to date selling at Fairyhouse in June. Grade 1 Challow Novices’ Hurdle Winner Barters Hill (pictured above) and Brain Power, winner of the Grade 1 American Grand National, are two of the most notable names amongst the list of his successful offspring to be sold at the Derby Sale.
First through the ring for KALANISI at this year’s sale is Lot 123 from The Paddocks, a gelding from a strong French family. Offered on behalf of Sean Murphy, he is a half-brother to the Listed winning hurdler Surtee Du Berlais and to the dam of Two Rockers, successful in the Grade 2 Prestige Novices’ Hurdle. Dam Marina Du Berlais is a winning half-sister to Grade 2 winner Michel Le Bon and Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Pyschee Du Berlais, and to Irish Grand National runner-up Marcus Du Berlais and Grade 1 Leopardstown Handicap Chase Winner.
The Parkhill family has always supported KALNISI and this year they offer a gelding from their famous High Board family at the Derby Sale. Lot 170 from Castletown Quarry Stud is the first foal out of Pearl Diamond, a bumper winner for Willie Mullins and a half-sister to the Grade 2 placed chaser Highway One O One. Third dam High Ace is a half-sister to the Champion Hurdlers Morley Street and Granville Again and to the dams of Grade 1 winners City Island and Lovethehigherlaw.
Our own homebred half-brother to last season’s Grade 2 Denman Chase winner Secret Investor is the only progeny of KALANISI due to sell on Thursday. Lot 237 is out of the Listed winning hurdler Silver Charmer from the family of Grade 1 winners Remittance Man and Treble Bob.
