KALANISI has been an excellent stallion for us, a reliable source of Cheltenham winners and top-class performers and at the age of 25 he covered a select book of mares this year.
The most expensive Goffs Land Rover Sale graduate by Kalanisi sold last year when Ken Parkhill’s homebred half-brother to last year’s Cheltenham Champion Bumper Winner Ferny Hollow made €135,000 to Aidan O’Ryan and Gordon Elliott. He is from the Parkhills’ wonderful Grade 1 producing family of Granville Again and Morley Street.
This year Kalanisi has two geldings catalogued, both in Part One of the Land Rover Sale and the first through the ring is our homebred half-brother to Fag an Bealach and Dazzling Glory, who have both been successful in recent months. Lot 104 is out of Market Niche, an Old Vic half-sister to Irish Grand National Winner Niche Market and is bred on the same Kalanisi – Old Vic cross as Grade 1 winner Kalashnikov and his Listed winning and Grade 1 placed full sister Kalane and the US Grand National winner Brain Power.
Lot 416 is a gelding from Peter Molony’s Rathmore Stud and he is the first foal out of Dawn Star an unraced Milan daughter of the dual Grade 3 winning chaser Coolgreaney. He was bred by Mr J Connolly and sold as a foal by Thornbrook Stud to Hermitage Stud at the Goffs December NH Sale.
